Billy’s Journey to Independent Living

We are incredibly proud to share Billy’s success story — a journey of resilience,

Billy joined the project in 2018 at a time when he was facing significant challenges, including struggles with alcohol addiction. From the very beginning, Billy showed a quiet determination to change his circumstances. Recovery is never easy, but through his own dedication and a strong desire to build a better future, Billy committed himself to staying clean and moving forward.

Throughout his time with the project, Billy worked closely with his support worker and alongside Renew. With consistent encouragement, structure, and guidance, he began to rebuild his confidence, develop independence skills, and believe in his ability to live a stable and fulfilling life. Each step forward — no matter how small — was a testament to Billy’s perseverance.

In August 2025, Billy reached a major milestone when he moved on from the project into his own independent flat. This was a proud and emotional moment for everyone involved. Today, Billy is thriving in his own home, enjoying the stability and independence he worked so hard to achieve.

What makes Billy’s story even more special is that his connection with the project did not end when he moved on. Billy continues to visit regularly and generously volunteers his time, helping to sort donations and support others who are on a similar journey. His willingness to give back is inspiring and shows just how far he has come.

Billy’s journey is a powerful reminder that recovery and independence are possible with commitment, compassion, and the right support network. We are immensely proud of everything Billy has achieved and will continue to support him wherever he may need it in the future.
